Knock Off Pottery Barn Teen Felt Pillows...

I found this tutorial here, for PB Teen felt pillows and could totally see them on my 3 year olds bed! She loves them !!! And even asks to sleep with her purple pillow. These pillows are super simple and easy to make. They use less than 1/2 yard of felt and a pillow form. They cost around $5 each to make if you get your pillow forms on sale.

Felt Rapunzel Tiara Tutorial

I made a Rapunzel Tiara for my little one for her 3rd Birthday.

First I downloaded a template of Rapunzel's crown from Disney and Family Fun magaizine

I traced the outer pattern on gray felt and the inner on a sheet of sparkly white felt and cut them out. I cut out two pieces of the large outer piece in gray, so that we could put the band between the two layers.

I pinned the pieces together.

And using white thread I stitched the teardrop shapes together white on gray.

Next I cut a 9 inch piece of 1/2 inch elastic and a piece of gray material that is 18 x 1 3/4 inches.

I pinned right sides together.

I sewed right sides together, leaving both ends open, and turned right side out.

To turn right side out I used a safety pin. I clipped the pin on one end and then pushed it through.

I then clipped the safety pin on the end of the elastic and pulled it through, when you get to the end be careful to not pull the elastic all the way through. I clipped the end of the elastic with the end of the fabric with another pin, while I continued to pull the elastic through. When your elastic reaches the other end, pin that end as well to hold it all in place. Scoot the fabric so that it bunches how you would like.

Then sew the ends of the elastic and fabric together so they are secure and ready to be attached to the ornamental part of the crown.

You will have three layers, the sparkly white and then two grays that are the exact same.

Slide the elastic band about 3/4 of inch between the two gray pieces on the ends and pin in place. Then sew around the edges on the white felt, sewing all 3 pieces together and catching the band. I went over the short sides 3 times to make sure the band was good and secure.

Then hot glue the tear drop shapes onto the crown, large in the middle and two smaller ones on the side.

I then added some gems to the bottom and top. I found these gems at Joanns in the beading section by the hair accessories, they are flat on the back and can be attached with hot glue.

And here is the finished product!

I LOVE IT and think it looks adorable with my daughters Rapunzel dress up outfit.

Valentine's Day Goodie Bags For My Girls

LOVE Them....

I was scared to death to take on this task, I have never made a "bag" other than a diaper pouch. I had looked at some tutorials for the pottery barn Valentine's mail bag and decided to not do it, to scary. Then my friend Malarie wanted to make this one so I said what the heck and took on the challenge! I am so glad that I did, it wasn't as difficult as I feared and I love the way they turned out.

We of course stuck with our color scheme, hot pink bags with black stitching and our inspiration, the "LOVE" material inside. I used this tutorial from Amy at www.ourscoop.blogspot.com that I found onscribd, it was simple and easy to follow, but you do not need as much felt material as it calls for. I was able to make two out of a 1/2 yard of felt. You do need the amount she says for the lining fabric though. Instead of doing buttons on the back we did velcro and then sewed buttons on. Our embroidery was kind of a combination of both hers and the pottery barn one, our hearts on the front we just used some interfacing and stitched them on with a zig zag stitch.

I am very pleased with how they turned out and I can't wait to fill them with Valentine goodies for my girls. My oldest has already requested to take hers to school for her Valentine's box, I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

I think she loves it!

Valentine's Bunting

My good friend Malarie and I have a whole list of fun Valentine crafts/decor we want to do for our home. We had kind of discussed what we wanted to do and didn't really have anything set in stone to do together, but still we both came up with our lists bunting, wreath, etc. we both went to our favorite craft stores (we were supposed to go together but I had a sick child), and both found that we were inspired by the same fabric...


This fabric changed everything. Next thing we knew we were on task to do pretty much the same projects, even in the exact same color schemes. What was going to be traditional valentine decor in red, pink and white quickly changed to black, hot pink and light pink!

To kick of our Valentine crafting party we started with Valentine's day buntings or banners inspired by this tutorial here and our great fabric find!



My rock wall above my fireplace is huge!!! So my banner is 140 inches!! But I LOVE IT!

We have 5 more fun projects planned and I am also going to make some valentine skirts for my girls. I can't wait to get started on our next project next week. Diet coke, pizza, crafting and our toddlers running around makes for a very fun and exciting day!
