A place to journal my successes and my failed attempts in the world of crafting and cooking, as I strive to become the domesticated crafty mom I long to be. This blog is intended as more of a journal for me, but for those who take a peak or two, maybe you can be inspired or please comment and inspire me... Now how do I turn on this sewing machine?
So my husband often makes jerk comments about my crafts and I ignore them, but his comment about my 4th of July wreath actually made me laugh. He said it looks like I am campaigning for Obama, I assure you I am not, but it gave me a good laugh.
So here is my fourth of July yarn wreath their are 13 stripes beginning and ending in red, just like the flag, but there are only 23 felt stars.
I picked up these letters at the wood connection in UT last spring and just got around to painting them. I love how they turned out! The only thing I would change would be the color of the "A" I used midnight blue because its what I had on hand and I wish it was a little more navy, but I still love it. And I loved watching my littlest monkey helping me to paint it.
I saw a much smaller version of this banner on Etsy and new I had to make one! It is super cheap and looks rustic, patriotic and adorable above my fireplace.
Navy, red and white felt 6" stars strung on twine from Dollar Tree. The whole project literally cost less than $2!
I had been wanting to make some sort of a hurricane candle for my bathroom for awhile but couldn't decide if I wanted sand or rope in the bottom and then I was watching the season premiere of the Bachelorette. At the beginning of the show before she met the men for the first time Ashley and Chris Harrison sat down for a one on one and the mood was set, they were in living area with flickering candle light of hurricane with candles and rocks it was so pretty that I knew that was what I wanted to do, so the next day I ran to walmart and bought a $5 vase and candle and then picked up a $1 bag of rocks at the Dollar Tree. I think I am going to make another one for my entry table, as soon as I get one.
I found a great tutorial for atote bag over at Homemade by Jill, they are super simple to whip up in a day, and they make great gifts. I added pockets to the inside because I am a pocket girl, Also she used tea towels and I just used fabric, these bags are a great size. I use mine as a church bag, travel bag, library bag and an every day bag.
My favorite, the bag I made my mom for Mothers Day.
A Birthday gift for someone

First off my Husband says the reason women blog is to show off and brag, well I promise that is not my intention, for that is so not my personality. The reason I blog is to journal...
Now. for anyone who knows me you know that I love to cook new things, crochet, needlepoint and scrapbook, I also enjoy making crafts and I am just learning a new skill and passion for sewing. I am not claiming to be great or even good at any of these things (especially sewing), but I truly enjoy them. I wanted to start a blog where I could keep track of all my projects that I finish and accomplish, this is a record I want to keep for both me and my girls.
The only reason I am not marking this blog private, for my use only, is because I want to encourage other moms to try something new, to find their inner self screaming to get out. Although I could never see myself as a pioneer woman I often find myself longing for those simpler times, where you made homemade cookies on a regular basis, and families always sat down to a home cooked meal, toys, clothes, and bedding were all made by Mother's gentle hand, I long for the plain and simple life....
